Step out over a drop on a floor of open grating

At First, 2,166 meters up above Grindelwald, a steel walkway is bolted to the side of the cliff and ends in a terrace that sticks out 45 meters over the drop. The floor is see-through the whole way out.

A gondola climbs from Grindelwald, a village that sits under the north face of the Eiger, to First. The walkway runs along the west side of the summit, and out and back takes about twenty minutes.

Everyone walks out slowly the first time. The second time they are already posing. After that there is a walk to a lake that holds the peaks upside down on a still day, or a bench and the view, which is not a lesser option.
