Hike along the top of the Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher run along the north Clare coast and rise to more than two hundred meters above the Atlantic. The visitor center and its parking lot are where this walk ends, not where it starts.

The path runs from Doolin along the top: gravel underfoot, farmers' fields on one side and the ocean on the other, a few hours of walking. The guide's family has farmed two stretches of it for five generations, so the folklore comes straight from the source.

The cliffs climb the whole way, and the walk finishes near their highest point, close to the visitor center.

The cliff face is flagstone laid down in flat beds, and its ledges hold the largest kittiwake and razorbill colonies in Ireland. The state's own survey of the site puts the highest point at 203 meters.
